This turnkey interior design project presented a unique challenge due to its fixed deadline and budget, as well as the geographical distance between the client and the project site, spanning over 200 kilometers. The client, a young woman, desired an interior space predominantly in shades of grey, with a minimalistic approach to achieve an easy and light atmosphere.The project aimed to create a serene and contemporary living space with a focus on simplicity and functionality. To meet the client's needs, the design incorporated various shades of grey, from soft pastels to deep charcoal, creating a harmonious monochromatic color palette. This modern sanctuary effortlessly combines the elements of airiness, spaciousness, and cocoon-like comfort. Step into a world where tranquility reigns supreme, with abundant natural light and open layouts creating a serene ambiance. The villa's contemporary aesthetic features a neutral color palette, sleek furnishings, and carefully selected accents, all working together to envelop you in a soothing embrace. Delicate lighting arrangements cast a soft glow, fostering an atmosphere of relaxation and peace. Whether you're enjoying the open-concept living area, indulging in the elegant dining space, or retiring to the cozy bedroom, every corner of this villa is thoughtfully designed to create an oasis of calm.

This expansive 104-square-meter apartment is situated in the Amfiteatru Residence, located in Pipera. Constructed nearly two decades ago, this residence boasts a spacious interior with an inviting ambiance, although it presented a few notable challenges.Firstly, the owners were residing overseas during the renovation process, requiring me to effectively communicate and coordinate from a distance. Secondly, I faced the constraint of a tight deadline, necessitating meticulous planning and efficient execution. In light of these circumstances, I embarked on a strategic approach that involved the removal of select walls and the reconfiguration of key spaces, including the main bedroom, small bathroom, pantry, and second bathroom.The design brief we received was characterized by its simplicity and clarity, aligning with our overarching architectural concept. My objective was to craft an environment that exuded modernity, accentuated by a soothing beige color palette. In order to fulfill the owners' discerning preferences and cater to their lifestyle, we incorporated bespoke furniture pieces that seamlessly blended practicality with style.In reflection, I am confident that with the help of everyone involved, I achieved these objectives, resulting in an exquisite transformation that harmoniously balances contemporary aesthetics, functionality, and personalized elegance.foto: Dan Calin

This particular project presented a notable challenge, as it entailed seamlessly integrating numerous day-to-day activities within a limited space. With the future tenant's specific needs in mind, I embarked on an innovative design approach for this centrally located 27-square-meter studio in Bucharest.By carefully considering the tenant's requirements, I thoughtfully incorporated distinct areas into the layout to cater to various functions, including a designated bedroom, workspace, cooking area, dressing zone, and even a bar-like table. This deliberate allocation of space ensured that each activity could be accommodated harmoniously within the studio's confines.To create a versatile environment that would resonate with a diverse range of individuals, I opted for a neutral and airy aesthetic. By doing so, I sought to establish a blank canvas that would serve as a backdrop, allowing future tenants to infuse their own personalities and styles into the space during their medium-term occupancy.Strategic placement of furniture, curtains, and lighting played a crucial role in demarcating and separating the different areas. This deliberate arrangement facilitated a seamless flow and effortless movement throughout the studio, promoting a sense of continuity and ease of navigation.

In the midst of a summer season, an extraordinary renovation project unfolded as a family of four, along with their beloved adopted dog, chose to forgo their annual vacation in favor of transforming their living environment. Entrusted with this endeavor, my primary responsibility was to meticulously address the layout challenges and fulfill their evolving requirements.Understanding their desire for a dedicated dining area, we embarked on a creative solution that involved repurposing the balcony as an extension of the living room. This decision not only allowed for the inclusion of a substantial dining table but also provided space to accommodate two office desks, meeting their professional needs.Furthermore, the renovation encompassed the kitchen, hallway, and small bathroom, with a focus on enhancing their spaciousness and introducing additional storage solutions. This thoughtful upgrade aimed to optimize functionality while simultaneously elevating the aesthetic appeal of these essential areas.Given their inclination towards a classic style, I sought to infuse a touch of modernity into the design scheme, envisioning a timeless appeal that would transcend the next 5 to 10 years. This forward-thinking approach aimed to ensure their home would remain both stylish and relevant in the foreseeable future.

These two rooms were unintentionally left behind during the renovation process, owing to time constraints and a lack of initial vision. Embracing this opportunity, we attentively listened to the client's brief while envisioning the possibilities that lay ahead.Driven by a keen understanding of their aspirations, I embarked on a daring design direction, opting for a predominantly black color scheme that exuded an air of sophistication and contemporary elegance. While embracing this boldness, I also maintained a delicate balance by incorporating subtle variations within the black palette.The young couple's primary objective was to establish an environment that engendered comfort and a sense of protection, evoking a cocoon-like ambiance. This approach not only catered to their desire for a welcoming atmosphere but also aligned harmoniously with their new lifestyle and imminent addition to the family.

THIRD PLACES AS THE "LIVING ROOM" OF SOCIETY"Third places have a number of important community-building attributes. Depending on their location, social classes, and backgrounds can be “leveled out” in ways that are unfortunately rare these days, with people feeling they are treated as social equals. Informal conversation is the main activity and most important linking function. " Situated within a distinguished mid-century villa near Icoanei, Bucharest, this expansive "living room" serves as a versatile space ideally suited for hosting a myriad of occasions, including informal gatherings, meet-ups, training sessions, and even corporate soirées.During the renovation process, my primary emphasis lay on implementing subtle yet impactful alterations that would greatly enhance the visual appeal of the space. Additionally, I took meticulous care to consider the diverse layouts that were to be incorporated. Third Place

The ground floor of this villa in Otopeni spans 109 square meters and was designed to cater to the needs of a traveling couple. They desired a space where they could pursue their hobbies and enjoy dinners with friends during their time in Romania.With a minimalist approach in mind, the couple prioritized spaciousness and easy interaction. The open layout of the kitchen, living room, and dining area facilitates movement and encourages connection while cooking or reading.For the bedroom, dressing area, and bathroom, I aimed to create a tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of a relaxing hotel or spa. My goal was to provide the couple with a secluded retreat where they could unwind and recharge their energy.

Blue, with its inherent qualities of serenity, tranquility, and unwavering honesty, transcends mere aesthetics to become a profound state of mind. Recognizing its profound symbolism of faith, truth, and boundless possibilities, I intuitively selected blue as the quintessential hue to infuse this modern apartment, situated within Moghioros Residence in Bucharest, with an uplifting aura.The open space area, seamlessly integrating the kitchen, living room, dining room, and hallway, emanates a captivating allure, inviting occupants and guests alike to embrace the harmonious flow that permeates every corner of the apartment. This deliberate design approach fosters a sense of continuity and connectivity, nurturing an environment that effortlessly supports the flow of daily life.Preserving the existing finishes, this 82-square-meter abode retains its original essence, enhanced by the infusion of the serene blue palette. Nestled within the vibrant city of Bucharest, Citta Residence is home to a small yet inviting apartment meticulously crafted to cater to the lifestyle of a discerning young woman. In this project, my focus revolved around curating an atmosphere and ambiance that resonated with her unique preferences.A key consideration was striking the perfect balance between ample storage space to accommodate her appliances, books, and clothing, while ensuring the interior did not feel overwhelmed by excessive furnishings. My aim was to create a harmonious arrangement that maximized functionality without compromising the sense of openness and serenity.Embracing the young woman's affinity for the color pink, I took delight in infusing the living area with its vibrant hues. It became the focal point, lending a captivating and charismatic character to the space.

Such is the case with the development of this family residence located in the North area of Bucharest.My commitment to this project extended beyond the mere creation of a physical structure; I invested considerable time in establishing a deep understanding and rapport with the clients. This enabled us to translate their unique vision and aspirations into an authentic manifestation of their individuality.The resultant design harmoniously blends modern, warm, and elegant elements with a raw, industrial aesthetic characterized by brick and steel accents. This juxtaposition not only reflects the distinctive characters and requirements of both clients but also enhances the overall ambiance of the space.As an ongoing venture, this project continues to evolve and unfold. I remain committed to crafting a residence that surpasses expectations, combining functionality, aesthetic appeal, and a true reflection of my clients' aspirations.
